Children’s and Young Adult Services at Walker Memorial Library serve children 0-17 and their families. Our youth collection numbers more than 20,000 items, and includes all of the old favorites and the best new literature in print and multimedia. Our annual circulation of children’s items is more than 45,000. We have six computers for children and young adults and a literacy station computer designed for children ages 2 to 6. But even with all of these big numbers and computers, we still remember your child’s name. Walker Memorial Library is a Family Place™ Library, stressing parental involvement in early literacy through our toddler story times and baby lap sit as well as our 1-2-3-Play-with-Me parent/child workshops held twice a year. We also host a local home-schooling group, supporting home-schooling families with a meeting place and resources.
